Invaders 2nd, or alt: Part 7

so i ended up going with this shoulder patch:

did some funky stitching. 1 non-stop zig-zag stitch the whole way around. then i had to hide the white thread with a black sharpie:

not sure what exactly the shoulder patch is? it's the "I" from the original logo. added a drop shadow. have another look at the "I"

Invaders 2nd, or alt: Part 5

new shoulder numbers...

because there is so much yellow on the shoulder yolks (and i'm currently out of white material):

instead of using the white-black-yellow of the 1st shoulder numbers:

i decided black-yellow-black would look pretty sharp!

we'll soon see how that turns out...

Jenga!

no, i didn't make this:

was tailgating the Steelers AFC Championship game this past Sunday when i came upon this. HUGE game of Jenga! 24 blocks in all i believe. pretty cool DIY if ya ask me:

Invaders 2nd, or alt: Part 4

now for the back of the jersey...

makeshift "heat (or in this case, glue) press"

glued and ready to sew (note the paper inside the jersey. so the glue won't bleed thru to the front of the jersey):

to the machine!

a keen "Uni Watch" kind of eye may have noticed a hint towards the new color combo for the shoulder numbers in one of the previous pics. if not, stay tuned...

Ryberto's Burritos: A History Lesson: Logo

There was a “Taco Shop League” contest over on Plan B’s blog last year. I joined in and created this little guy for the occasion:

Ryberto’s Burritos was my idea for hole-in-the wall taco stand that you might find somewhere in your city at 2am, and the logo character was designed to have an old-school/throwback feel based on the Swinging Friar and Chief Wahoo:

with the brown/yellow color scheme adopted from my Invaders jersey and the Padres.

I immediately fell in love with the logo, and wanted more:

next up: patches, jerseys, hooded sweatshirts, and more! stay tuned!

Invaders 2nd, or alt: Part 3

got my jersey in the mail! looks... SHARP!

not trying to give to much away, but... glad i made an extra set of the #40 in this style! i think it will be coming in handy:

trying to figure out what to do with the shoulder area. in the meantime, it's off to the sewing machine!

Invaders 2nd, or alt: Part 2

waiting on my order for a blank, uncrested jersey from Hockey Jerseys Direct. i ordered a white Boston Bruins style Athletic Knit. number 399b

so stay tuned...

Invaders 2nd, or alt???

what's this mess all about you ask?!?! it's the early stages of either the Invaders 2nd jersey, or alt., because there will be 3. only this one pictured will be extremely limited. only those that really want one can talk me into making one... and we all know that won't be to difficult to do... :-)

look a bit fimilliar?

Alex, you have a fan...

my friend tanner is a HUGE fan of the team and jerseys (he's the little guy on the left in the pic of the invaders shirts). so i figured I'd do a quick creative DIY for him. bought a plain yellow t-shirt for $5ish, got out the stencils, and traced a "replica-type jersey" (or really cheap t-shirt) just for him. check out the pics. pretty self explanatory, so i wont go into details. enjoy:

asked him to pick a favorite number, and whaddaya know... he picked non-other than evgeni mal... errr... Alex! so congrats to Alex, you have another fan!

front:

back:

another masterpiece in the books... was really easy and didn't take long at all. dusted off the 'ol stencils and put them to good use!

44s

well, 44 and an "S"

happy new year everybody! took a little break from the blog, no biggie.

to ease into 2011, I'm finishing up the final few Invaders jerseys!

that means newer edition to the team, Adam's 44 shoulder numbers:

got out the templates, and started with the yellow. put sticky on the back of the templates so they don't slide around when tracing:

note on the template reads: TV #4 Yellow Back
"TV" means TV numbers. it's what they call shoulder numbers in football. the rest of the note should be fairly obvious:

tracing the black material:

all cut and ready to be glued & sewn. also a random "S" that i had lost for a front Invaders logo:

that's it for now! almost finished with the Invaders project!

again, happy new year and best wishes in 2011 and beyond...
